Summer always brings incredible opportunities for creative portrait photography, and this poolside session with Sonyabil quickly became one of my favorite shoots of the season.

The goal was simple: create clean, editorial-style images using nothing more than beautiful natural light, vibrant colors, and a location that already had plenty of character. With bright turquoise water, modern architecture, and the midday sun, we focused on capturing a relaxed summer atmosphere while experimenting with different poses and angles around the pool.

One thing I loved about this location was the variety it offered. In just a short amount of time, we were able to create completely different looks by moving from the pool edge to the ladder, stepping into the water, and changing wardrobe pieces. Each setup gave the images a fresh feel without ever leaving the same location.

Creating Variety with a Simple Location

One of the biggest lessons from this shoot is that you don't need multiple locations to build an interesting gallery.

By simply changing:

• Posing

• Camera angle

• Wardrobe styling

• Distance from the subject

• How the model interacted with the water

we created several completely different editorial looks from a single pool.

Sometimes creativity comes from seeing new possibilities in the location you're already standing in.

The Look

This feature was photographed using available sunlight to keep everything feeling bright, natural, and true to summer.

Instead of fighting the light, we embraced it. The reflections from the water added beautiful highlights, while the vibrant swimwear created strong contrast against the cool blue pool.

The result is a clean, modern editorial that celebrates summer without relying on complicated lighting setups.
