Private Oasis: Pool Photoshoot with Kayli | ShutterDownEasy Magazine Issue 03
Summer is one of my favorite times of year to create photography, and for Issue 03 of ShutterDownEasy Magazine, I wanted to build an editorial centered around natural light, crystal-clear water, and the relaxed feeling of a perfect summer afternoon.
This exclusive pool photoshoot with Kayli took place at a beautiful private backyard pool, where we spent the afternoon creating photographs and cinematic video using nothing more than sunlight, reflections, and creative posing.
The result is one of my favorite editorial shoots we've produced so far.
Creating a Summer Pool Photoshoot
One of the biggest advantages of photographing around a swimming pool is how versatile the location becomes.
Throughout the session we photographed on the pool deck, in the shallow water, beside the pool ladder, and around the lounge chairs. Every location offered a completely different look while keeping the same clean summer aesthetic.
The bright turquoise water became a natural reflector, bouncing soft light back into the scene and helping create vibrant skin tones without relying on additional lighting equipment.
For photographers looking for pool photoshoot ideas, this type of location offers endless creative possibilities with very little gear.
Editorial Swimsuit Photography
Kayli's black bikini created a timeless editorial look that contrasted beautifully against the bright blue water and lush summer landscaping.
Rather than creating overly dramatic images, the goal was to keep everything feeling clean, natural, and cinematic.
Simple posing, authentic expressions, and careful composition allowed the environment to become part of the story instead of simply acting as the background.
