There’s something about a great studio location that can completely change the direction of a photoshoot.
For ShutterDownEasy Magazine Issue 13, we teamed up once again with Lindsay for a vintage-inspired lingerie photography session in a New York studio. This shoot combined classic glamour, modern boudoir photography, and a little bit of playful old-school Hollywood style.
From the moment Lindsay stepped in front of the camera wearing a pink satin robe, lingerie and rollers in her hair, we knew this shoot was going to have a completely different feel from our recent outdoor and pool sessions.
Creating a Vintage Glamour Look
The studio gave us plenty to work with.
Rather than building the shoot around one backdrop, we incorporated different areas of the space to create several distinct looks while keeping the overall visual style consistent.
We started with Lindsay getting ready in her pink satin robe and hair rollers, applying makeup in front of the camera. The rollers became an important part of the look rather than something we wanted to hide—they immediately gave the images that playful vintage glamour aesthetic we were looking for.
From there, we moved into more traditional lingerie photography, using the studio's furniture and decor to create an intimate editorial feel.
One of our favorite setups featured Lindsay posing on a luxurious couch, while another incorporated a vintage telephone that fit perfectly with the retro-inspired concept.
The result is a photo series that falls somewhere between a modern lingerie editorial, classic boudoir photography and a behind-the-scenes glimpse into a glamorous getting-ready session.
More Than Just the Final Photographs
One of the ideas behind ShutterDownEasy has always been showing more than simply the finished image.
For this shoot, cameras were rolling throughout the session.
That means Issue 13 doesn't just feature the final photographs. Members can also watch the cinematic film created during the shoot along with an extended behind-the-scenes video showing what it was actually like on set.
You'll see the lighting, posing, interaction between photographer and model, and the process that goes into creating the finished photographs.
