There’s something about a great swimsuit, beautiful natural light, and a poolside location that immediately feels like summer.
For ShutterDownEasy Magazine Issue 15, we teamed up with model Lindsay for a new poolside editorial featuring a bikini from Isla Raye Swim.
This shoot was designed to feel clean, confident and elevated—putting both Lindsay and the swimwear front and center while creating the kind of imagery that could live just as comfortably in a swimwear campaign as it does inside the pages of ShutterDownEasy Magazine.
Featuring Isla Raye Swim
One of the things I love about photographing swimwear is how much the design itself can influence the direction of a shoot.
For this session, Lindsay wore a bikini from Isla Raye Swim, and its neutral color palette and gold hardware gave us a great foundation for the entire visual style.
Against the turquoise water and rich greens surrounding the pool, the more understated color of the swimsuit really stood out. Rather than competing with the location, it allowed Lindsay, the details of the bikini and the environment to work together.
We photographed a mixture of full-length portraits, tighter beauty images and detail-oriented shots designed to showcase both Lindsay and the swimwear.

Creating a Poolside Swimwear Editorial
The goal wasn't simply to photograph Lindsay standing next to a pool.
I wanted the session to have the feeling of a swimwear editorial campaign.
That meant paying attention to movement, posing, swimsuit details, the color of the water, surrounding greenery and how everything worked together within the frame.
The result is a set of images that feels polished without losing the relaxed feeling of a summer afternoon by the pool.
That's also what I enjoy about creating these ShutterDownEasy issues. Every shoot gives us an opportunity to build a completely different visual world around the model, wardrobe and location.
More Than a Swimwear Photoshoot
Photography is only one part of Issue 15.
Alongside the finished photo set, we also created a cinematic swimwear film featuring Lindsay in Isla Raye Swim.
The cinematic film lets us show things that a still photograph can't—movement through the location, subtle expressions, close-up details of the swimsuit, the pool environment and all of those small moments between poses.
It's becoming one of my favorite parts of producing ShutterDownEasy.
Instead of simply seeing the final photographs, you get to experience the shoot.
Behind the Scenes
We also filmed a complete behind-the-scenes video during the session.
The BTS takes you beyond the finished images and cinematic film to show how the shoot actually came together—from posing and camera angles to movement, composition and capturing the cinematic sequences.
It's the difference between seeing a finished photograph and actually being there while it was created.
