Steffie in New York City | ShutterDownEasy Issue 17 — First Stop New York
A first modeling tour. A New York City studio. And a photoshoot that began straight from the airport.
For ShutterDownEasy Issue 17, I'm excited to introduce Steffie, a model, entrepreneur, and longtime beauty pageant competitor who traveled to New York City for her very first modeling tour.
What made this shoot especially memorable? I was the first NYC photographer she worked with on her trip, and she literally arrived at the studio straight from the airport, luggage and all!
No time wasted. Straight into creating.
First Stop: New York
There's something exciting about photographing a model for the first time, especially when she's arriving in a new city with fresh energy and a willingness to create.
Steffie brought exactly that to our NYC studio session.
For our first look, we went with a bold, sensual editorial concept featuring striking red lace lingerie, leopard-print details, and soft cream-colored curtains.
The combination created a beautiful contrast between the warmth of the setting and the confidence of the wardrobe.
My goal was to capture something that felt glamorous, feminine, and intimate while keeping the photography natural and focused on Steffie's personality.
Behind the Camera: Meet Steffie
One of the things I'm introducing to ShutterDownEasy is a new feature called Beyond the Camera, where I ask the models a few questions so readers can get to know the person behind the photographs.
Steffie was actually the first model to complete the questionnaire!
When I asked her to describe herself in three words, she answered:
"Ambitious, feminine, adventurous."
Those three words couldn't have been more fitting for someone who had just flown into New York City to pursue new modeling opportunities.
Another interesting fact? Steffie has been competing in beauty pageants for over 17 years.
That experience was apparent throughout our shoot. She was comfortable in front of the camera, confident in her posing, and brought a strong sense of presence to every frame.
Beyond modeling, Steffie is also an entrepreneur and the founder of The Glam Evolution, where she helps aspiring models and pageant contestants develop confidence, runway skills, personal branding, and career opportunities.
There's clearly much more to Steffie than what you see in the photographs.
