For Issue 11 of Shutter Down Easy Magazine, Lindsay returns for a new summer pool photoshoot featuring a simple combination that worked perfectly on camera: a white tank top, bikini bottoms, water, and natural poolside surroundings.
The concept for this shoot was intentionally minimal. Rather than building an elaborate set or relying on multiple wardrobe changes, we wanted to see how much we could create with one location, one look, and the changing appearance of clothing, skin, reflections, and movement once Lindsay entered the water.
The result became one of our favorite cinematic pool shoots so far.
Creating a Simple Pool Photoshoot
One of the goals behind Shutter Down Easy is to show photographers and filmmakers that an interesting model photoshoot doesn't always require a complicated concept.
For Lindsay's Issue 11 session, we worked around an outdoor swimming pool and gradually incorporated the water into the shoot. Her white tank top and bikini bottoms provided a clean, understated look that worked especially well against the deep blues of the pool.
As the session progressed, Lindsay moved farther into the water, giving us opportunities to photograph reflections, water droplets, wet hair and different poses both above and below the waterline.
Those little changes gave the photographs a completely different character without ever leaving the location.
25+ Exclusive Images From the Shoot
Issue 11 features a collection of 25+ photographs from Lindsay's pool session.
The gallery includes a mix of portraits, tighter details and wider compositions that show how we approached photographing the same model and wardrobe in several different ways.
For photographers, it's also a great example of how you can continue developing a relatively simple concept instead of constantly changing outfits or locations.
But photography was only part of this shoot.
Lindsay's Cinematic Pool Video
Alongside the still photography, we filmed a dedicated cinematic model video during the session.
This one turned into something special.
Rather than treating the video like a traditional behind-the-scenes recap, we wanted it to feel more like a short fashion and swimwear film. Slow movement, reflections, water and close-up details became a big part of the visual style.
The soundtrack and slower pacing gave the finished film an elegant, atmospheric quality that fits the imagery beautifully.
It's easily one of our favorite cinematic videos we've created for Shutter Down Easy so far.
Go Behind the Scenes of the Photoshoot
Issue 11 also includes a separate behind-the-scenes video, giving members another perspective on how the photographs and cinematic footage were created.
That's an important part of what we're building with Shutter Down Easy.
The finished photographs show you the result.
The cinematic film shows you the creative interpretation.
And the BTS footage lets you see what was actually happening during the shoot.
Together, they provide a much more complete look at the process of creating a model photography session from beginning to end.
