Sun Tan Lotion Photoshoot with Lindsay | ShutterDownEasy Magazine Issue 06
Issue 06 of ShutterDownEasy Magazine has officially arrived, featuring Lindsay in a sun-soaked poolside editorial inspired by long summer afternoons, glowing skin, and effortless natural light.
Sometimes the simplest concepts create the strongest images.
For this editorial, the idea was straightforward: a beautiful summer day, a bottle of tanning oil, and the warm golden light that photographers wait for all day. Rather than relying on elaborate sets or heavy lighting, this photoshoot focused on creating a relaxed lifestyle atmosphere where Lindsay could simply enjoy the moment while the camera documented it.
The result is "Sun Kissed Glow," a collection of editorial-style images celebrating summer, confidence, and natural beauty.
The Story Behind the Shoot
One of my favorite parts of creating editorial photography is taking an everyday activity and turning it into a visual story.
Applying tanning oil isn't just preparation for a day by the pool—it creates natural movement, authentic expressions, and beautiful highlights that photograph incredibly well during golden hour.
Throughout the shoot, Lindsay moved naturally around the pool, taking her time while applying tanning oil before relaxing in the sun and posing for the camera. Rather than directing every movement, I allowed the moments to unfold naturally, creating images that feel cinematic and genuine.
Photographing with Natural Light
Nearly every image from this editorial was created using available natural light.
As the sun began dropping lower in the sky, the warm light wrapped around Lindsay beautifully, creating soft highlights on her skin while maintaining rich colors throughout the scene.
Instead of overpowering the environment with artificial lighting, I wanted the location to become part of the story. The pool, surrounding greenery, and evening sunlight all work together to create the relaxed summer atmosphere that defines this issue.
